Stratford Man Acquitted of 1st-degree Larceny

Bridgeport - A Stratford man was acquitted Tuesday of leecing his stepfather of more than $100,000.

Superior Court Judge Richard Comerford Jr. acquitted 41-year-old Anthony Crone of first-degree larceny after a two-day court trial.

"I contended from day one it was a civil matter and the judge agreed," said Crone's lawyer, Wayne Keeney.

His stepfather, Robert Morange, 71, of Monroe, had accused Crone, of Euclid Avenue, the owner of Crone Oil, of stealing the proceeds from the sale of Morange's former home and insurance money from the death of Morange's wife.

Keeney said Morange had previously given Crone his power of attorney with the ability to write checks to himself and other of his stepfather's account.

He said his client was using the money in fact to support the stepfather.
